Halloween Thrills and Chills in Williamsburg

From haunted houses and ghost tours, to outdoor scary movies, round up your crew, and check out some of Williamsburg’s most thrilling and chilling events of the season.

布希花园: One of the park’s most anticipated events of the year, Howl-O-Scream is a Halloween must in Williamsburg. The park is decked out in its Halloween finest with cobwebs, pumpkins, and scary characters galore, with options for everyone and varying degrees of bravery required. Busch Gardens gives you ample opportunity to travel the park unguided, but also has guided options like: The Howl-o-Scream All-Access Tour, which is five hours of guided group tours, including dinner and priority access to all of the haunted houses. Ticket prices vary and are available online. Howl-O-Scream runs through October 31.

The Thin Veil of Yorktown: With all of the area’s history, there are bound to be ghosts among us! Take an hour-long walking tour starting at Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters that explores where the Yorktown spirits reside. The Thin Veil of Yorktown is the only ghost tour that can go on National Park Service’s property (the Swan Tavern) and INSIDE a haunted building. Tickets are $10, children under 12 not permitted.

The Original Ghosts of Williamsburg: Touted as the “2nd oldest ghost tour in the United States,” this 90-minute walking tour is sure to be a favorite of the entire family. Beginning in Merchants Square, stroll the streets of Colonial Williamsburg by candlelight and discover the secrets of the “other world.” Don’t be tricked, $17 tickets for this event are only sold online.

Billsburg啤酒厂: Billsburg After Dark presents Rocky Horror Picture Show; an interactive experience hosted by Dr. Frank-N-Furter! Leave the kids at home for this adults-only after dark event where costumes are highly encouraged. Bring your own outside seating and get ready for the show on October 30, 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Tickets are $1.

Haunted Williamsburg: Enjoy the “official” ghost tour experience of Colonial Williamsburg. From authentic 18th-century colonial ghost stories to creepy modern-day encounters, it is the only tour with exclusive access to historic outdoor spaces, featuring costumed storytellers who share their unnerving tales. This one-hour candlelit walking ghost tour takes you strolling through town, into gardens, and beyond the barriers to its most haunted sites. Tickets are $19 for adults and $12 for children. Suitable for ages 8 and older.

Ghost Walk Jr.:鬼走jr .)带来一个exciting new interactive storytelling experience for those seeking less fright and more fun! Enjoy this 45-minute ghost tour of traditional spooky stories with a Colonial Williamsburg flavor. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Appropriate for ages 4+. Offered Thursday-Saturday, 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $8 for all ages.

Yorktown Ghost Walks: Tour the haunted streets of Yorktown under a cloak of darkness. This guided tour will take you past some haunted locations and tell you about the history of the area. The tour is conducted by real paranormal investigators from Virginia Paranormal Investigators, and the published author of the book, "Ghost of Yorktown" Jeffery Santos. Tours are at 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights (rain or shine). Adults $10, children over 6 and teens $10, children 6 and under are FREE.
